OneGeorgia board approves latest round of grants

The OneGeorgia Authority approved 20 economic development grants totaling about $8 million for rural communities across the state.

The list of nine Economic Development Growth and Expansion (EDGE) awards amounted to  $2.5 million in all and will go to:

  • $100,000 to the Development Authority of LaGrange/Dae Ha America Corporation (total project cost $7,580,000).
  • $200,000 to the Development Authority of Elbert County, Elberton and Bowman/MollerTech South (total project cost: $9,990,000).
  • $300,000 to the Development Authority of LaGrange/Hanil E-Hwa Interior Systems Georgia (total project cost $7,479,420).
  • $500,00 to the Griffin-Spalding County Development Authority/Caterpillar, Inc. (total project cost $120.5 million).
  • $200,000 to the Macon/Bibb County Development Authority/TIMCO Aviation Services (total project cost $1,693,056).
  • $350,000 to the Newton County IDA/SKC, Inc. (total project cost $100.3 million).
  • $200,000 to the Gordon County Development Authority/L G Hausys America, Inc. (total project cost: $40.9 million)
  • $300,000 to the Development Authority of the City of Jefferson/Systemax, Inc. (total project cost $14.9 million).
  • $400,000 to the Tift County Development Authority/American Textile Company (total project cost $6.6 million).

There were 11 Equity Fund awards totaling more than $5.5 million that will go to:

  • $500,000 to the Joint Development Authority of Franklin, Hart and Stephen County for road infrastructure.
  • $500,000 to the Valley Partnership Joint Development Authority for road insfrastructure.
  • $140,000 to the JDA of Franklin, Hart and Stephen Counties with co-applicants Banks County, Habersham DA and Rabun County DA for broadband infrastructure.
  • $500,000 to the Douglas-Coffee County Industrial Development Authority for land acquisition.
  • $500,000 to the Fannin County Development Authority for a speculative building.
  • $350,000 to Clinch County.
  • A $1.17 million AIRGeorgia grand to Jenkins County for an airport runway extension.
  • $500,000 to the Middle Georgia Regional Development Authority for water and sewer infrastructure.
  • $500,000 to the city of LaFayette to enhance airport growth.
  • $355,000 to the Development Authority of Banks, Habersham and Rabun Counties for a  broadband feasibility study.
  • $499,000 to Wayne County for road infrastructure.
