Deal plans night speech for ‘State of the State’

Gov. Nathan Deal will deliver his annual “State of the State” address in the Georgia House chamber at 7 p.m. next Tuesday, his office disclosed.

It will be the first time in nearly a decade that the state’s chief executive has delivered this speech in prime time.

Georgia Public Broadcasting will broadcast the speech live statewide and also stream it on the GPB website.

Deal will make another major policy speech Tuesday morning at the Georgia Chamber of Commerce’s Eggs and Issues breakfast at the World Congress Center, where he will unveil the tax reform proposals developed by the Georgia Competitiveness Initiative he appointed last year.

In the State of the State, Deal will focus on education, transportation, health care, criminal justice and government efficiency, his office said.
