House Speaker David Ralston has named Rep. Mark Hamilton (R-Cumming) to the legislative overview committee for the Georgia World Congress Center Authority (GWCCA).
The overview committee is responsible for monitoring and reviewing the operations of the World Congress Center.
“Already one of the top convention centers in the country, this important Georgia authority will also be very busy with the construction of the new stadium,” said Hamilton, who’s chairman of the House Industry and Labor Committee.
“Accordingly, there will be many oversight responsibilities to protect the assets of Georgia’s citizens and I look forward to the challenge,” Hamilton said.
Hamilton will replace Donna Sheldon, the former legislator from Dacula who resigned from the Legislature to run for Congress.
The other House members of the overview committee are Speaker Pro Tem Jan Jones (R-Milton), Rep. Edward Lindsey (R-Atlanta), Rep. Rahn Mayo (D-Decatur), Rep. Butch Parrish (R-Swainsboro) and Rep. Matt Hatchett (R-Dublin).
