Former lawmaker Golden elected to Transportation Board

[private]Valdosta businessman Tim Golden, who stepped down last year after serving 24 years in the Legislature, will be getting back into the policy mix as a member of the State Transportation Board.

Golden was elected this week to replace Jay Shaw, another former legislator who died in April, on the board that sets policy for the Georgia Department of Transportation (DOT).

He was a member of the Georgia House for eight years and a state senator for 16 years before deciding not to run for reelection in 2014. During the later years of his Senate tenure, he was chairman of the Insurance and Labor Committee.

Golden was initially elected to the House as a Democrat but switched parties while a senator.
