Albers won’t run for 6th District seat

[private]State Sen. John Albers (R-Roswell) said Monday he will not enter the 6th Congressional District race to replace outgoing Congressman Tom Price.

“Ultimately after much prayer and insight, I have decided to choose my family without any regrets,” Albers said in a statement.

“My younger son Ryan just started high school and my role as father and husband are the most important titles a person can hold,” Albers said. “I will continue to work hard and serve you in the Georgia Senate. While now is not my time, I will continue to look forward at future opportunities to serve my state and country.”

Price has been nominated as secretary of the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services and is expected to step down from his congressional seat sometime next year.

State Sen. Judson Hill (R-Marietta) has said he will run for Price’s seat, while House Speaker Pro Tem Jan Jones decided not to get into the race.
