Atlanta mayor’s race poll has Norwood, Fort as the leaders

[private]Atlanta City Councilwoman Mary Norwood has a large, although not decisive, lead in an early poll of the Atlanta mayor’s race commissioned by WSB-TV.

The poll conducted by Rosetta Stone/Landmark Communications shows Norwood with 28.6 percent support, while the rest of the field is stuck in single digits.

Running in second place by a narrow margin is state Sen. Vincent Fort at 9.3 percent. He is followed by Keisha Lance Bottoms (8.6 percent), Council President Ceasar Mitchell (8.0), Cathy Woolard (6.1 percent), Kwanza Hall (5.8 percent), and Fulton County Commission Chairman John Eaves (3.8 percent).

The mayor’s race is following a similar dynamic as in 2009, when Norwood was also the frontrunner for most of the campaign before a state legislator, Kasim Reed, caught and passed her in the runoff election.
