[private]Gov. Nathan Deal has appointed Joy Lampley-Fortson as executive director and administrator of the Georgia Commission on Equal Opportunity, effective April 17.
She will replace Melvin Everson, who is leaving to take job with with Gwinnett Technical College.
Lampley-Fortson is the assistant chief counsel with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Immigration & Customs Enforcement. She earlier was an assistant U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia from 2001 until 2007.
