Strickland, Cauble win legislative special elections

[private]Former Republican House member Brian Strickland won a Tuesday special election to replace Rick Jeffares in the state Senate.

Republican Geoffrey Cauble won another special election to fill the Henry County House seat that Strickland vacated to run for the Senate.

With all precincts reporting, Strickland, a McDonough attorney, had 62 percent of the vote compared to 34 percent for Democrat Phyllis Hatcher and smaller percentages for Ed Toney and Nelva Lee.

In the House race, Cauble, a general contrator, pulled 51 percent of the vote to win without a runoff against Larry K. Morey, El-Mahdi Holly, and Tarji Leonard Dunn.
