PSC will review impact of tax law changes on Georgia Power

[private]The Public Service Commission will study the impact on Georgia Power of federal tax law changes that reduced the corporate tax rate from 35 percent to 21 percent.

The study could potentially result in an adjustment of Georgia Power’s rates to account for tax windfalls the company might gain under the new tax law.

The PSC staff recommended the tax law study to make sure the utility giant’s rates are “just and reasonable.”

The commission voted unanimously Tuesday to authorize the study with minimal discussion.
