Evans’ first TV commercial focuses on HOPE restoration

[private]Stacey Evans released her first TV commercial Friday, a partly biographical spot in which she vows to keep fighting to restore cuts made in 2011 to the HOPE scholarship.

The commercial (view it here) opens with views of some of the 16 places where Evans lived while growing up in Ringgold and closes with shots of school kids who stand to benefit from HOPE one day.

Evans is running against former legislator Stacey Abrams in the Democratic primary for governor.

The script:

In the 18 years I lived in Ringgold we lived in 16 homes, most of them trailers, always one step ahead of a bill collector.

I’m Stacey Evans, and because of the HOPE scholarship I was the first in my family to go to college.

It’s why I led the fight in the state legislature to restore HOPE, and now I’m running for governor to finish the job.

There are children all across Georgia where going to college will literally change their lives – like it did mine.
