Ga. Power execs get plum state appointments

[private]Gov. Nathan Deal has appointed two top Georgia Power executives to prestigious state boards.

Paul Bowers, the utility’s president, was appointed to the board of directors of the Georgia Ports Authority. He had been serving as a member of the Board of Regents.

Bowers was previously a member of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta’s Energy Policy Council.

Chris Cummiskey, the executive vice president of external affairs and nuclear development for Georgia Power, was appointed to replace Bowers on the Board of Regents.

Cummiskey was previously the commissioner of the Georgia Department of Economic Development and prior to that lobbied for the University System.
